The Future of the Architect: reports of our extinction have been greatly exaggerated.
A completely subjective look at the direction the role of the architect might take in years to come, as we endeavour to keep up with the ever accelerating pace of change.
Riccardo began his career as an academic researcher, specialising in bioinformatics and computational biology, before transitioning to the world of software development. Initially focusing on Open Source technologies, he quickly gravitated to .NET as his stack of choice, and later trained in the IDesign methods of software architecture and project design. He has worked as a developer and architect across multiple sectors including biotechnology, investment management, upstream oil and gas, public transport and retail, as well as mentoring many talented individuals along the way. Now, as a senior architect with The App Business in London, Riccardo leads full-stack teams in bespoke mobile-first development, and is involved in every stage of the product lifecycle from research and inception to final delivery. He is also a fan of hats, extreme chilli sauces, blues harmonica and setting things on fire (under the pretence of doing science demonstrations at his daughters’ school).
