“All cloud projects fail. Yup. They do. Cloud projects fail because we get caught up in the fact that they are “cloud projects”. Interesting new models. Great new technology. Amazingly put together PowerPoints. Promises of improvements in the air quality of the office. By defining the project as a “cloud” project there is a real danger that you lose focus on the business process that the underlying technology/solution supports. You might successfully migrate your application to the cloud but did you improve anything of value along the way? Did you deliver something better or new? If you haven’t changed/improved the system for the better then arguably all you have done is paint a go-faster stripe on the side of your car. Not to mention taking on risk of failure.”
