Brian will synthesize his experiences in working with teams who have been engaged in serial, customer-focused development and growing that into a productization strategy. That is, we will discuss how to convert a set of custom code development projects for multiple, hopefully similar customers into a strategy for software-as-a-service and broad-based product delivery. This is one method that consulting shops can “grow” up and improve both their profitability and ability to gain external capital investment. Specific areas he will address include starting in the middle of a development effort – the first “big fish” – identifying the architecture wins and investment priorities, building the team, and external communication.
